2007 Big Show
His and Lows of the Campaign
Campaign Wrap-Up

Many lessons and experiences were gained from playing in this year's Big Show and the events before it. I did not cash in any of the bracelet events but did win two satellite tournaments. The experiences gained will help tremendously for the 2008 campaign which begins now. There is a big debate on whether poker should be considered a sport or not. In my opinion, poker is a sport in itself. You can easily spend hour on hours at the felt. In order to survive these long hours; you need to condition yourself and to put yourself in the ringer before it actually happens. The more that you are conditioned, then the more easy it is for your body and mind to memorize muscle action (reaction/intuition). As this blog is written, my 2008 campaign has already begun with my participation in the 75K Harrah's Invitational- July 27-29. More about that tournament in the next blog.

Here are the low and high points of my 2007 Big Show Campaign:

Low Points:

1. Taking 2 consecutive bad-beats 20 minutes before the end of Day 1 at the Big Show (which crippled my stack).

2. Busting out in 126th place to Mark Seif, only 27 spots before a payday in Event 52.

3. Busting out on Day 2 of the Big Show (nuff said!).

4. Ok, no more low points, on to the high points of my 2007 Big Show Campaign.

High Points

1. Event 52- being moved to Lindgren, Tran, & Binger's table as the short stack and leaving the table as one of the big chip stacks. Played some of my best poker at this table and gained a few fans in the process.

2. Day 1 of the big show, just hearing Shuffle Up and Deal and actually participating in the event itself.

3. In my third satellite event, getting Quad 7's on the flop and taking out three players with this very hand and this set me up to win. (Who likes Quad 7s?)

4. Forgot which event it was, but playing with Barry Greenstein to my left and taking down a few pots in the process.

5. Event 52, telling the 'Mad Russian" that we just played 2 hands after the break & in reality we had already played 2 orbits/20 hands.(Insert Pokerface)

6. At the end of my 3 week stay at The Rio, the housekeeping staff really knew me and what I needed. Also, I got a credit on my account and didn't owe anything after my long stay. Sweet, I could get used to free hotel/suite stays!

7. On Day 1 of the big Show, I got 2 dealers back to back that I knew and these two guys have already dealt to me in 4 previous events this year. Oh, they also know me now. I just might be in Vegas a tad too much when the dealers, servers & housekeeping staff know you. (I still live in Denver, guys! Really!)

8. During one of my meals at The Rio, we got the same server for two consecutive meals and out of sheer boredom; My poker buddy Jay and I took a prop bet on how many times the server would come to our table. When the bet was placed, the server overheard me and Jay told me that he sneered at me. Great, there goes my bet! The over/under was 3 and the server came to our table 5 times. I won the bet, haha! Ship it, baby! Why in the world would you bet against me? Jay, maybe next time!

Check out my next blog to see if destiny awaits for me at the 75K Harrah's Invitational and as always, I would like to thank a few sponsors in the process: Official Glass Dealer Buttons http://www.glassdealerbuttons.com (great Glass buttons for your home game or event), Casino Video Dealer School http://www.casinovid.com (learn to deal like the pros), Walls By Manny (great interior & exterior work around the Denver area) catmanv@comcast.net, & Udaya Yoga Studio ( http://www.udayayogastudio.com ).
See you at the tables!
