Day 2 of the 2008 WSOP main event is upon me. Compared to the 2007 WSOP, I have 32,950 instead of 5,500. My table draw is as follows (name, chip amount, table & seat number)
Joseph Loiacono 36200 B02 01
Scott Warren 12225 B02 02
Bruce Hyde 53600 B02 03
Steve Stolzmann 52250 B02 04
Jens Voertmann 32000 B02 05
Fernando Iribarren 9725 B02 06
Stephan Gerin 23450 B02 07
Chewey Lam 32950 B02 08 Diana Eiges 15300 B02 09
I look to advance to Day 3 and cash for the 2nd time in this year?s World Series. After a brisk morning workout , Level 6 (1st level of Day 2) approaches. This is a solid draw for me in that our table will not be broken up and players will be brought to our table players are eliminated. My plan going in is to hang around until the dinner break and get aggressive during the later stages of the day. Blinds are 250-500 with 50 antes. I have over 30xs the big blind and have room to maneuver. I have a few online pros and a wsop circuit bracelet winner at my table.
I am dealt pocket Aces on my first hand of the day and there is a raise from seat 5 by Jens Voertmann to 1200. Seat 7 re-raises to 2,500. I re-pop to 6,500 and want to isolate. I too have done my research on my table and have discovered that I have a few aggressive players at my table. I did a google search on myself the morning before and saw that players were looking for information about my playing style and who?s who at the table. I?m no pro but if you play in enough tournaments, eventually you run into the same people and you get noticed in the process. I end up winning this hand with my re-raise and am on the uptick to 39,950. My new plan is to isolate seat 5 and get him in a heads-up pot to double up right away. I manage to win a few small pots pre-flop in the next 40 minutes with the min raise move and end the with 47,000 in chips. However, seat 5 is eliminated when his all-in bluff fails and there goes my double up plan. The action at the table is brisk as half of our original table has been eliminated and the short stacks at our table are hanging tough.
Level 7 blinds at 300-600 with 75 antes. I run into trouble in this level as I get reraised in three consecutive pots. One hand I raise to 1500 from the hijack (before the button position and get reraised by Seat 3 (UTG) to 3,500 and end up folding A-Q. The next hand I raise with A-10 and there is an all-in from Seat 1 and a call by Seat 3. Seat 1 reveals pocket Jacks and Seat 3 reveals K-Q. Pocket Jacks win. I limp to the end of level 7 with 26,825 in chips. It is during the end of this level, that I impose a break on myself as I feel like I am getting too emotionally involved in a few pots. I walk over to table 14 to see how Silvio Formica (the self proclaimed Italian Stallion) is doing and manage to walk myself into the cameras and say hi to Silvio and also get filmed in the process. How do I know Silvio? We played at the same table in Event 2 of this year?s WSOP and did tangle with each other in a few pots in that event. Silvio proclaims ?you the best? and I reply ?you the best?. We also get a writeup in the live WSOP chip updates below:

In a recent hand, Silvio Formica was showing off for the ESPN cameras that circled the table. As the cameras rolled, Formica's opponent was contemplating calling Formica's all-in with pocket jacks. Formica laughed when he even thought about it and went on to say, "When I put my money in, don't call unless you have aces."
After a friend stopped by to greet Formica and ask him if he was causing trouble, a player told Formica that the cameras were off and he could stop. Formica responded, "I'm more famous than Doyle Brunson in this town! I've busted Johnny Chan 20,000 times.
I walk back to my table after my much needed break and we are now in Level 8 with blinds at 400-800 and 100 antes and the cameras and chip updates team is at our table and you could call this my Mike Matasow implosion and yes, it was picked up by the chip updates team and f-ing filmed, here it is and I know everyone has waited weeks for this posting, so here it is:
Chewey Lam moved all in from the cutoff and Scott Warren made the call for his last 6,500 from the small blind. Lam's pocket deuces were up against Warren's . The flop was .
"HOLD!" implored Lam.
The turn was the .
"Come on, HOLD!" he yelled again.
The , though, spiked on the river and Warren raked in the pot. Chewey was down to only 13,000 after the hand.
A few hands later, Chewey moved all in over the top of Warren's UTG raise from the button and was called. His needed some serious help against Warren's . Chewey couldn't improve on the board and he hit the rail.
After the hand, Warren was up to 46,000.
